Beall Street

This home in the Dolphin Heights neighborhood of Dallas was designed for a mother and her adult son. Though the neighborhood is zoned single-family residential, the floor plan allows for separate living spaces - divided by a lockable door - that easily accommodate the homeowners’ current family situation, with flexibility for future living situations. Should her son move out a kitchenette can easily be added to the back living space, creating an opportunity for rental income that reduces the homeowners’ monthly mortgage burden. Should the owner decide to sell the home, the back living space can easily be converted to a third bedroom, making the home a desirable 3/2 that many families are looking for.

The project was a collaboration with the University of Texas at Arlington’s  (UTA) Design Build program. [bc] began the design process with the client, leaving some elements to be completed by the students who then constructed the home up through dry-in. [bc] finished up the project as the general contractors.
