Dallas Cultural Plan Community Engagement

At buildingcommunityWORKSHOP, I led a year-long community engagement process, working with over 9,000 residents of the city of Dallas to identify strengths and needs in Dallas’ cultural ecosystem. Through meetings, performances, focus groups, living room discussions, online surveys, and more, Dallasites participated in hands-on activities. In addition to community engagement, [bc] also provided analytics, mapping, and research support throughout the project, helping to draft the final recommendations of the plan.

As the project lead, I developed and designed the activities. In the image on the left, participants are imagining and designing their dream cultural city. Following each community event we conducted a process of quantitative and qualitative analysis of collected data which included cleaning, sorting, tagging, summarizing, and visualizing it to understand needs, opportunities, and strengths at a neighborhood scale.
