Community Engagement for Harold Simmons Parks
buildingcommunityWORKSHOP was hired by the Trinity River Conservancy to lead community engagement for Harold Simmons Park, a new park planned for the area adjacent to the Trinity River in downtown Dallas. As project manager I led this work, collaborating with multiple neighborhood organizations, design firms, and nonprofits.
The activities were designed to engage workshop attendees in different ways - talking, listening, drawings, writing, and mapping. The goal was to learn about how people currently use the area where the park will be built, what people’s hopes for the park are, and what kinds of concerns people have. Images below are excerpts from a report on our project approach and findings.
